Medusa Festival 2023's Opening Ceremony

The Medusa Festival 2023 was an event that promised to be unforgettable, and I had the incredible opportunity to contribute to its “Opening Ceremony” alongside talented individuals like Jonay, Juanma, and Edu. In this post, I’ll walk you through my role in creating a time-traveling cyborg, the challenges we faced, and the tools we used to bring our vision to life.

I was thrilled to collaborate with Jonay on the “Opening Ceremony” for Medusa Festival 2024. The project was a unique blend of creativity and technology, featuring a cyborg character that was not just a part of the show but the stage itself—a time machine transporting us to different years of the Medusa Festival.

For this project, SideFX Houdini and Unreal Engine were our go-to tools. I was responsible for all the 3D elements, including character creation and real-time motion capture (mocap). What’s more, all the 3D elements were created procedurally, adding alayer of versatile, adaptability and innovation to the project.

The final output was a spectacle that left the audience in awe. Juanma executed the project live, while Edu took care of the stage and lighting design, making the entire experience seamless and magical.

Being a part of Medusa Festival 2024’s “Opening Ceremony” was an experience I’ll cherish forever. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Jonay (Vj), Juanma (Lighting), Nico Ojesto (Sound) and Edu (Design and Lighting) for trusting me and allowing me to be a part of this incredible journey.

I hope you enjoyed this behind-the-scenes look at our project.  Thanks Experiencias Visuales.
